Welcome
to the first edition of Newcomers??. This is where we will examine
3 video game characters and discuss the possibility of them showing
up in Brawl as a new playable fighter. In this edition we take a
look at 3 Nintendo characters you may have already thought about.

Isaac |
Series:
Golden Sun
|
Developer:
Camelot |
Publisher:
Nintendo |
Isaac,
a 17-year-old Venus Adept from Vale, is the main playable
character of the original Golden Sun and can be considered
the main character of the Golden Sun series as a whole. Not
only is Isaac skilled with all different types of weaponry
but he has the element of earth behind his magical abilities.
Being that Golden Sun is a popular RPG series on the GBA with
two successful installments, it would only make sense that
at least one of its characters enters the Smash Bros ring.
That character would most likely be Isaac. Although it's important
to point out that Felix, the main character of the second
game is another strong possibility.
Newcomer??:
Inevitable. If not Isaac then
Felix; perhaps both. They would fit right in with the rest
of the cast; especially with other anime-style sword wielders
like Link and Marth.

Little
Mac |
Series:
Punch-Out!! |
Developer:
Nintendo |
Publisher:
Nintendo |
Mac
is a 17 year old rookie boxer from New York City. His goal
is to become the World Video Boxing Association Champion.
He is the main protagonist in the original Punch-Out!! for
NES, Super Punch-Out!! for SNES (although his look dramatically
changed) and even made an appearance in Electronic Arts'
Fight Night: Round 2 for GameCube. Even when fighting opponents
much larger and stronger then himself, Mac is able to pull
through with his lightning quick jabs and special jumping
uppercut technique.
Newcomer??:
Doubtful. Although Mac can stomp
some ass in the boxing ring, his skills don’t translate
well to the Smash Bros universe. Besides, Sora already stated
that Pit would be the only "classic" character in
Brawl.

Captain
Olimar |
Series:
Pikmin |
Developer:
Nintendo |
Publisher:
Nintendo |
Olimar
is a spaceman from the planet Hocotate. Besides the many Pikmin,
he is one of only 3 characters in the series, and most definitely
the main one. One day his spaceship crash landed on a mysterious
planet that closely resembles earth. There he found the Pikmin,
helpful little creatures that follow his every order. With
the help of the Pikmin Olimar was able to collect the pieces
of his spaceship and return home. Although his primary ability
is leadership over groups of Pikmin, in Pikmin 2, he was able
to perform a combo of melee attacks.
Newcomer??:
No. Captain Olimar wouldn’t
stand a chance against the Smash Crew. Just about the only
thing he can do is throw Pikmin at them. Plus, he is about
the size of a quarter.
